Laser Cutting Service Inc. was established in 1996 after reviewing the need for laser cutting technology in our local area and across the southeast. As we talked to different people in the steel and manufacturing business, one problem kept arising. How to cut parts with machine tolerances, without the clean up of most plasma or flame cut parts? That is how we got our start.

We constructed a building with the capabilities to expand as our company grows. We started out with one 60” x 120” Bystronic Laser Cutter. As word spread about our company, we saw the need to expand. We added another Bystronic laser with an 80” x 160” table and a Jet Edge Water-jet cutter with a 96” x 144” table to expand our capabilities of cutting different and thicker materials. The water-jet gives us the opportunity to cut material up to 8” thick. Both of our laser cutters are equipped with shuttle tables to increase cutting times without having to stop and change out materials, therefore increasing production and decreasing cutting costs. All of our machines have the capability to hold +/- .005”.

We can cut virtually any type of material. Mild steel, stainless steel, aluminum, copper, brass, bronze, hostalloy, manganese, wood, plastics, rubber and certain types of stone, such as marble.

We are only limited in the kind of shapes we can cut by your imagination. The type of cad system we have implemented and the expertise of our cad operators to run our system, we should be able to cut most any shape. If you can provide us with a drawing, dxf file, sample part, or just an idea we will do everything within our capabilities to provide you with the part or parts you need. The P-35 Planer

The Planar Reverse-Engineering software allows us to create CAD drawings of complex parts where none may exist. Data can be acquired in as little as 1/8th of a second.

Our advanced fitting technology (derived from the fitting techniques used in particle accelerators) is capable of instantaneously fitting lines, ellipses, curves, circles and complex polylines, to accuracies measured in the tens of microns, saving hours of measurement.

The system even includes optical character recognition (OCR) and neural networks to extract text and dimension layers from the drawing.

Automatically compares and analyzes dimensions and tolerances based on pre-defined inspection Projects and allows the user to generate reports. Material thickness, height as well as forms can also be measured.

The Planar software is capable of creating inspection reports to certify the accuracy of each inspected item. These reports can be used as the basis of a certificate of conformance or as part of your statistical process control.
